Touring Team Program 2012
The Touring Team Program is designed to facilitate a collaborative and mutually beneficial relationship between touring (club) teams and the VULS.
Services
For each team that joins the program, the VUL will provide the following services:
- A listing on the Touring page.
- A team page for promotion (identical to other team pages).
- Full membership privileges for all players, including general liability and sport accident insurance.
- BC Ultimate membership (required for participation in provincials).
- Practice fields where possible, depending on availability and demand from other teams.
Requirements
To participate in the program, touring teams must meet the following requirements:
- Register and pay a registration fee using Event Registration (Touring option).
- Have all players become VUL members and complete the Consent form (Touring option).
- Have open tryouts.
- Complete your team's roster using Team Admin (see the FAQ page for instructions).
- Agree to follow VUL regulations related to field use. Damage to fields may result in teams being removed from the program.
For 2012, the registration fee is $300. This includes membership and league fees (see below).
Field Considerations
The VUL has a limited number of fields available for practice. We will do our best to accommodate each team's preferences, including booking additional fields on your behalf, but flexibility is important. Demand on some nights is greater than others, some fields are smaller than regulation size, some fields may be in Burnaby, and the Park Board may close some fields.
If supply exceeds demand for a given timeslot, the VUL will consider additional factors when allocating fields:
- Volunteering to help deliver VUL programs (e.g. clinics, workshops, mentoring).
- Commitment to compete in the UC or USAU championship series (i.e. attend BCUC with the hope of attending CUC, or attend Sectionals and/or Regionals with the hope of attending USAU Championships).
- Past performance (i.e. competitive results).
- Length of time the team has been around.
