About the Vancouver Ultimate League Society
Ultimate has long history in Vancouver. Organized teams began forming in the early-80's, and the VUL started in 1986 under the auspices of the provincial society, the BCDSS. By 1990, there were 12 teams in the league. After explosive growth through the 90's, the VUL reached 190 teams in the year 2000. We incorporated as an independent non-profit society in that year.
Who We Are
We have about 4000 active members who play throughout the year. Our primary focus is recreational play, and we offer 8 league options for adults and youth. Our summer league is the second largest ultimate league in the world, averaging 240 teams the past few years. We also host numerous clinics and introductory programs for new players, and support a number of elite club teams who compete in provincial, national and international championships.
The VULS is governed by a 7-person volunteer Board of Directors. The Board sets the long-term priorities, objectives and policies for the Society. Directors are elected at the Annual General Meeting every fall.
The Society is managed by 2 paid Staff and numerous volunteers. Staff design and implement programs to meet objectives set by the Board. Contact us if you have questions or suggestions.
The board and staff are supported by an active membership that keeps the Society healthy and helps ultimate thrive in Vancouver. You can get involved through numerous volunteer and contract opportunities.
