| If you're interested in getting into Disc Golf, here's a fun low cost opportunity. The Discraft Ace Race is being held once again in Burnaby on Oct 17th from 10am-3pm. You play 36 holes, but you're only playing for Aces or Medal hits, so it's only 36 throws. The winner gets the grand prize of a bag and 10 discs. Everyone who plays gets the players pack (the real reason to do it), which is 2 discs (putters this year, one in DX and one in ESP plastic), a supercolor mini, a discraft hat and a sticker. Approximate value of the players package is US$55, while your cost for the event is just C$30 if you register in advance, or $35 for day of registration. Show up any time between 10 and 3pm (bigger selection of disc weights and colors earlier in the day, obviously), and play with at least 3 people. No tournament pressure. There will also be a bbq on site for some food. It's a good time, and you're guaranteed 2 discs, a hat and a mini just for playing, with a chance at a bag and 10 more discs. Realy you can't lose. Bring all your friends ;-) There will be doubles after the event ~3pm start, so your Ace Race card needs to be in by the end of doubles. All skill levels are welcome, as this fall we will have an emphasis on player development. The fall season is only 5 weeks long, with our goal to win cdn university nats in mid October. The ubc mens team is a serious group of guys with a hard working mentality. We encourage anyone else looking to train hard and improve their disc skills to come out and join us. In order to play for ubc you need to at least be a part time student at a college or university. please bring your cleats, a light and dark jersey and lots of water.
