2011 AGM - Motions
The following motions will be brought before the membership at the AGM.
1. Board Structure
This motion would allow the VULS Board of Directors, with a unanimous vote, to appoint up to 2 additional directors to the Board of the VULS.
"Be it resolved that VULS bylaws 7.a, 7.c, and 7.d be changed to the following:
7.a) The Vancouver Ultimate League Society shall be directed by a Board of Directors, which shall consist of seven members in good standing, to be elected as set out below, as well as up to two additional Directors, to be appointed as set out below.
7.c) Election and Appointment of Directors
1) The elected Directors of Vancouver Ultimate League Society shall be elected annually by the members at the AGM via secret ballot.
A) Nominees will be given no more than 5 minutes to state their platform before the election.
B) A simple majority of votes is required for election.2) The elected Directors of the Vancouver Ultimate League Society may appoint up to two additional Directors to the Board. Potential candidates may be nominated by any elected board member, and may only be added to the Board of Directors with a unanimous vote of the seven elected Directors at any scheduled Board meeting.
7.d) Term of Office
1) Elected Directors shall be elected for a term of two years (from AGM to AGM), and are eligible for election for a maximum of three consecutive terms. In the event of mid-term resignation or dismissal, directors may be elected for a term of one year, by decision of the board, in order to preserve the overall balance of the election cycle.
2) Appointed Directors shall have a Term of Office from the date of their appointment to the next AGM."
For reference, the current bylaws are as follows:

2. Capital Projects Fund
This motion would allow the Capital Projects Fund to be used for Capital Projects other than fields, and it would enable the Board to retain 6 months anticipated expenditures rather than 3.
"Be it resolved that the VULS bylaw 9.g be changed to the following:
9.g) Any moneys held in the Society's bank account, in excess of 6 months’ reasonably anticipated expenditures, at the time of the AGM shall be placed into a Capital Projects fund, to be utilized only to increase or enhance the field and practice facilities available to the league, or to support major Capital Projects that have a significant benefit for the Society. Capital Projects moneys may be allocated to a specific project only after approval by a simple majority of the membership in attendance at either an annual general meeting or special meeting of members."

3. Capital Project - website
"Given that the VULS is planning to undergo a Web Site Development project which will benefit all members of the Society, be it resolved that the members of the VULS permit an expenditure of up to $50,000 from the VULS Capital Projects Fund, within the next 12 months, for the purpose of undertaking this Web Site Development Project."
